About SAMPARC

SAMPARC
"Social Action For Manpower Creation"

SAMPARC started in the year 1990 by Shri Amitkumar Banerjee and Mrs Lata Pande with like minded friends and professionals with the view of working towards a new dimension with reference to its children’s village activities for orphan, destitute and children of the sex workers. It grew with a new concept that all children need to grow under community umbrella. Ultimately SAMPARC children’s village concept has been accepted by Government of India and as a recognition SAMPARC has been awarded NATIONAL CHILD WELFARE AWARD by the Govt of India in 1997-98. Community action programme of SAMPARC started with 6 villages of which 3 villages were totally belonging to tribal community. Gradually, it spreaded in 16 villages of Maval taluka and 6 villages of Mulshi Taluka. Keeping children’s village as a center of the programme, SAMPARC started:
- Kindergarten program for 16 rural villages. - Non formal education program for 8-14 year age group children in 7 villages. - Vocational training program for rural school dropouts. - Women empowerment program in 26 villages. - Community health program. Activities in the field of alternative medicines (herbal medicines) started to create awareness amongst the villagers to renew their old and traditional knowledge.
Women’s organization started at each village as registered body and functioning for last 12 years as saving groups and started various income generating activities by the women and also involved in labour contribution (shramadaan) activities by the village committees in the area of water harvest, digging wells, school class rooms, road building, low cost toilet etc.
